Privacy policy

Traxdrop is a small independent project. This policy explains what we collect when you use Traxdrop, why, who else handles it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

What we collect

Everyone with an account

Your email address, and your name if you give it. We use your email to log you in - we send a single-use link and 6-digit code instead of using passwords.
When you last logged in, so we can show what's new since your last visit.
Your settings, such as whether artists can see your email address and which artists you get update emails from.

If you've been given access to an artist's music

Which access links you've used, and when you first used each one.
What you download and play: the track, the date, how many times, how long you listened, and whether you skipped it. We also record your IP address with each download or play.

The artist can see this activity - which of their tracks you've downloaded and played, and when - so they know who's listening. They see your email address only if you've chosen to share it; otherwise they see your name. They don't see your IP address.

If you share music on Traxdrop

Your artist profile: display name, description, profile picture and social media links.
A connection to your Dropbox account. We can only see the Traxdrop folder inside your Dropbox's Apps folder - nothing else.
Details about your tracks and releases, artwork, and the preview MP3s we make so your music streams quickly.
If you pay for a plan, a reference to your Stripe customer and subscription. We never see or store your card details.
The update emails you send to your subscribers, and who they were sent to.

What we use it for

To run Traxdrop: log you in, give you access to music, and show artists their subscribers and stats.
To send you emails you need, such as log in emails, and emails you've chosen to get, such as updates from artists or alerts when someone uses your access link. You can turn update emails off for each artist, and every update email has a link to stop them.
To keep Traxdrop working and secure: spotting errors and abuse, and understanding how the site is used so we can improve it.

We never sell your data, and we never will. We don't use it for advertising.

Who else handles your data

We use these services to run Traxdrop. They only process your data to provide their service to us.

Render - hosts the website and database (in the EU, Frankfurt).
Dropbox - stores artists' music files.
Cloudflare R2 - stores preview MP3s and artwork. Some older artwork is still stored on Cloudinary.
Brevo - sends our emails.
Stripe - takes payments for paid plans.
Honeybadger and Scout - tell us about errors and slow pages.
Google Analytics - reports on how the site is used. See our cookies policy for more.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while you have an account. If you ask us to close your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except anything we have to keep by law (for example, payment records).

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it. Email support@traxdrop.com and we'll reply within a month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Security

We don't use passwords, so there are none to leak. As long as your email account is secure, nobody else can log in as you. Log in links and codes can only be used once and expire after an hour. The connection to Traxdrop is always encrypted, and download links to artists' music are never shown to anyone.

Changes to this policy

If we make important changes, we'll update this page and email you about them.
