Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to share and listen to music on Traxdrop, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, zoom or other assistive technology.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we do
- You can use every page with a keyboard. Press Tab to move around; the first stop on each page is a Skip to main content link.
- Buttons, links and form fields have labels that screen readers read out, including icon-only buttons.
- Text and important graphics meet WCAG AA colour contrast against our dark background.
- You can zoom pages up to 400% and use Traxdrop on screens as narrow as 320 pixels without scrolling sideways.
- Notifications (for example "Track updated") are announced by screen readers.
- You can log in with an emailed link or a 6-digit code - there are no passwords to remember and no time limits while you use the site.
The audio player
The player works with a keyboard and screen readers:
- Play/Pause, Previous, Next, Download and Close are normal buttons.
- The waveform is a slider. When it's focused, use the arrow keys to skip 5 seconds, Page Up/Page Down to skip 30 seconds, and Home/End to jump to the start or end.
- The current time is shown as text as well as on the waveform.
- Music never starts playing unless you press play.
Known limitations
- The card payment field is provided by our payment processor, Stripe, and follows its own accessibility standards.
- Linking Dropbox takes you to Dropbox's own site, which we don't control.
- The waveform is visual. Screen readers get the track's position and length instead.
We're working on these, and we regularly check Traxdrop with automated tools and by hand.
